NEW YORK, May 24 (UPI) -- New Yorkers were subject to serious traffic jams on Friday evening as thunderstorms rolled through the city, prompting flash-flood warnings and flight delays in the tri-state area.
But social media users were captivated by another side effect of the storms, a bolt of lightning, which struck the spire of One World Trade Center.
Witnesses posted photos and video of the spectacular sight on to Twitter and Instagram.
