White House releases anti-sexual assault PSA starring male celebrities

WASHINGTON, April 29 (UPI) -- Vice President Joe Biden and a White House task force on campus sexual assault have launched a campaign to prevent sexual violence on U.S. college campuses.

"Colleges and universities need to face the fact of what exists on their campuses," Biden said Tuesday at the White House. "They need to step up to it."

Biden recommended that schools adopt a number of measures to crack down on the problem, including campus surveys, partnerships with rape crisis centers and improving victim confidentiality.

The vice president also introduced a PSA starring himself, President Barack Obama and a number of male celebrities -- Steve Carell, Seth Meyers, Daniel Craig, Benicio del Toro and Dule Hill -- noting that men need to get involved in anti-assault campaigns.

“We’re never going to solve this epidemic until we get men involved,” he said, nothing that the new ad “sends a powerful message to guys: Rape is rape. Don’t look away. Do something. Speak up. Stand up.”

"If she doesn't consent or can't consent, it's rape. It's assault," del Toro says in the PSA.

The administration also launched the website, NotAlone.gov, which will monitor school-enforcement policies, direct victims to crisis centers and provide information for schools and students.
