Someone threw a shoe at Hillary Clinton in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, April 10 (UPI) -- Hillary Clinton dodged more than questions about her 2016 presidential ambitions at a Las Vegas recycling conference on Thursday.

The former secretary of state was giving a speech at the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center when an unidentified woman threw a shoe on stage.

Clinton managed to duck the projectile and quipped, "My goodness, I didn’t know that solid waste management was so controversial."

"Good thing she didn't play softball like I did," Clinton added, prompting cheers from the audience.

“Is that a bat?” Clinton continued, when the woman followed up with a bunch of papers.

A conference rep told the Sun that the woman was not part of the event. She was escorted away by police.

In a similar incident in 2008, an Iraqi journalist threw two shoes at former President George W. Bush during a press conference in Baghdad.
