WASHINGTON, April 8 (UPI) -- Members of Team USA were reportedly told not to try to take selfies with President Barack Obama when they visited the White House last week.

The Olympic athletes were asked by White House staffers to keep their phones stored, and were to not even try to take phone selfies.

This happened after a presidential selfie with Red Sox player David Ortiz was used in a promotional campaign by Samsung, infuriating the White House and causing them to hand the issue to their lawyers.

Team USA may have missed out on a presidential selfie but the White House has denied reports they are planning to ban all selfies with the president -- just the promotional ones.
