Scott Brown, a Republican and former Massachusetts senator, officially announces his campaign for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire.
Brown will be running against incumbent Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), who invited Brown to sign a pledge not to use outside spending in the race, much like the one he signed when he ran against and lost to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in 2012. Brown has so far refused to sign the pledge this time around.
President Obama weighed in on Brown’s intention to run during an interview with NECN last month.
"I'd be happy if Scott Brown wants to move down to Texas,” President Obama said. “You know, we could always use some moderate Republicans in other parts of the country. New Hampshire's already got it covered with a great senator."
