A Louisiana mother is charged with murder after she poisoned her 17-month-old son who had down syndrome.

Erika Wigstrom, 20, allegedly killed her son, Lucas Ruiz, when she poisoned him with hand sanitizer. Wigstrom told police that she injected the Germ X hand sanitzer into his feeding tube and he died one day later. His official cause of death was ruled "acute ethanol intoxication." Lucas had a blood alcohol level of .280 -- almost four and a half times the legal limit.

Wigstrom also said she poisoned her son in October of 2012 while he was recovering from surgery. Cesar Ruiz, Wigstrom's boyfriend and the baby's father, is currently in prison after he told authorities he attempted to poison the baby with rum.

Wigstrom has been charged with first-degree murder and is in jail without bond.
