Los Zetas trafficker sanctioned by U.S. Treasury Department

WASHINGTON, March 13 (UPI) -- The U.S. Treasury Department Thursday sanctioned a Los Zetas trafficker, agency officials say ships drugs, weapons and money across the Mexico-U.S. border.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control labeled Eduardo Mendoza Robles as a specially designated narcotics trafficker under the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act, the office said in a release.

Mendoza Robles is responsible for transporting drugs, weapons, and cash across the U.S.-Mexico border for the Los Zetas cartel, the department said.

Thursday's action prohibits U.S. persons from conducting financial or commercial transactions with Mendoza Robles, and freezes any assets he may have under U.S. jurisdiction.
