DALLAS, March 5 (UPI) -- George P. Bush, the handsome son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, secured the Republican nomination for Texas land commissioner on Tuesday, handily defeating his opponent David Watts with 75 percent of the vote.
Thank you to everyone and especially my wife Amanda for their support yesterday! Today we get back to work in bringing our message to voters

If elected in November, the 37-year-old Fort Worth lawyer would renew the Bush family's longstanding political dynasty -- the last Bush in office was his uncle, President George W. Bush.
George P. Bush managed to raise $2.7 million in campaign funding by February, far more than the amount raised by his Democratic challenger, former El Paso Mayor John Cook.
Bush's mother, Columba, was born in Mexico, and he speaks fluent Spanish.
The Texas land commissioner is responsible for overseeing state-owned land, assets and mineral rights. It's a powerful position in the state, and one that could help jump-start any gubernatorial or presidential aspirations.
