Video: No sign Oklahoma man struggled with police before he died

MOORE, Okla., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- An Oklahoma man who died after police pinned him to ground at a movie theater didn't struggle during the incident, a video taken by his wife appears to show.

The 6-minute cellphone video was made public Tuesday by Michael Brooks-Jimenez, the attorney for the family of Luis Rodriguez, who died Feb. 15, the (Oklahoma City) Oklahoman reported.

Rodriguez, 44, his wife, Nair, and their daughter, Luinahi, 19, were outside a movie theater in Moore when Nair got into an argument with the daughter and slapped her. A bystander reported the incident and police approached the family.

A scuffle ensued between Rodriguez and the officers. When the video starts, Rodriguez is already on the ground surrounded by five officers. He has been pepper-sprayed.

An officer is heard telling Nair Rodriguez, "They've got him and they're going to take care of him."

The wife responds, "He doesn't move! You killed him! You killed him!"

Rodriguez was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Moore Police Chief Jerry Stillings has said the use of force was appropriate.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation.
