Teacher charged with ordering boy to unclog urinal barehanded

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb. 20 (UPI) -- A Florida teacher said she did not believe ordering a boy to unclog a urinal barehanded was wrong until she was charged with battery on a child, police said.

Jennifer King Forshey, 58, who lives in Hollywood, Fla., and teaches at the Broward Community Charter School in Coral Springs was arrested Wednesday, the (South Florida) Sun Sentinel reported. She was released early Thursday after posting $1,000 bail.

Investigators said the incident occurred Feb. 6.

The boy, 10, said Forshey ordered him to remove paper towels from a urinal in the boys' bathroom that were soaked with urine and did not provide him with any means of protecting his hands.

The boy said he tried to use dry paper towels but still came in contact with the urine. Police said another teacher reported hearing Forshey tell the boy to rinse his hands under running water when he complained there was no soap in the bathroom.

Forshey allegedly admitted her actions and said she saw nothing wrong with what she had done at the time.
