American jet damaged in tarmac crash

BALTIMORE, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- An American Airlines plane was damaged after being struck by a ground vehicle on the tarmac at an airport outside Baltimore.

Passengers were boarding American Airlines flight 140, headed to Dallas-Fort Worth Sunday afternoon, from Baltimore-Washington International Airport when a ground vehicle struck the plane's nose, damaging the fiberglass nose body and landing gear, the Baltimore Sun reported.

No passengers were injured but the driver of the vehicle that struck the plane was briefly hospitalized, transportation officials said.

The flight was canceled and the airline booked passengers onto other flights.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
