Jurors hear recorded screams of victim at murder trial

NEW YORK, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Jurors in a New York City murder trial heard the last words of a woman whose screams were captured on a voice mail message as she was choked to death.

Jason Bohn, a lawyer, is on trial in the 2012 death of girlfriend Danielle Thomas, a Weight Watchers executive, who accidentally pocket-dialed her cellphone and placed a call to a woman she had recently met at a party.

The jury in Queens Supreme Court Tuesday cringed while hearing Thomas say, "Jason! Help me. I'm choking. I love you," after Bohn allegedly said, "Danielle, why did you call that number? You have five seconds and then ... I'm going to kill you," the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Trial witness Suzanne Elio, who received the message on her voice mail, said she gave Thomas her phone number after seeing her fight with Bohn at the party.

Bohn has admitted killing Thomas, blames his actions on mental illness and abandonment by his mother, the newspaper said.
