HOUSTON, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- A Houston man was arrested in the shooting death of another man in what authorities say was a case of road rage witnessed by the victim's 10-year-old grandson.

The Chambers County Sheriff's Office was holding Larry Dewayne Brinkley, 56, on $750,000 bail in the Friday night shooting death of Leslie Larrison, 54, the Houston Chronicle reported.

"We had a road rage incident that turned into murder," Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said.

Brinkley was driving his teenage daughter home when he allegedly cut off another car driven by Larrison, who was with his grandson, Larrison pulled up behind Brinkley and the two got into an argument. Authorities allege Brinkley retrieved a handgun from his car and fatally wounded the unarmed Larrison.

The Chronicle said Brinkley fled the scene, but was captured by Chambers County sheriff's deputies after a brief chase.

Authorities said the blood-covered gun was recovered.
