Pa. state Rep. J.P. Miranda, sister charged in corruption case

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Pennsylvania state Rep. J. P. Miranda and his sister have been charged with political corruption, Philadelphia's district attorney announced Monday.

District Attorney Seth Williams said Miranda, 34, a Democrat, and his sister, Michelle Wilson, 28, were charged with conflict of interest, perjury and criminal conspiracy, and are expected to turn themselves in within several days.

Williams' office investigated a report of a "ghost employee" in Miranda's North Philadelphia district office, and found Miranda allegedly created the position for Timothy Duckett, a former campaign worker for Miranda, to funnel money to Wilson, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
