NEW YORK, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- A New York psychic has pleaded guilty to swindling a down-on-her-luck lawyer out of $118,000 in Rolex watches, cash and gift cards, her lawyer said.
Prosecutors said psychic Crystal Marks met Laura Brooks, 28, a Greenwich Village lawyer in September and promised to "improve her romantic life, family life and career." She did so by talking her into several expensive purchases, including buying Rolex watches and Barney's gift cards to right a wrong Marks convinced Brooks she had committed several years ago.
Under terms of the plea deal, Marks, 31, must pay full restitution before June 16 in order to avoid a three-month jail sentence, the New York Post reported Tuesday. She was also sentenced to five years probation.
