Barbara Bush says she hopes son Jeb will not run for president

WASHINGTON, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Former First Lady Barbara Bush said, in an interview, she hopes her son Jeb Bush will not run for U.S. president.

Speaking on a program to be broadcast by C-SPAN Monday, one of a series of programs on First Ladies, the 88-year-old noted, "If we can't find more than two or three families to run for high office, that's silly because there are great governors and great eligible people to run ... the Kennedys, Clintons, Bushes, there are just more families than that."

Mentioning her son Jeb, 60, a former Florida governor, she added, "Jeb is the most qualified person to run for president but I hope he won't, because I think he'll get all my enemies, all his brother's," a reference to former President George W. Bush. "I refuse to accept that this great country isn't raising other wonderful people."
