SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- A San Francisco jetliner crash scene where a teenage survivor died after being run over by emergency vehicles was chaotic, newly released video footage shows.
The videos, from cameras mounted on a firefighter's helmet and a fire truck, show emergency responders were aware 16-year-old Chinese national Ye Meng Yuan was lying on the tarmac after being thrown from an Asiana Airlines plane that crashed at San Francisco airport July 6, CBS News reported Tuesday.
Officials initially said Ye was accidentally run over because she might have been covered by fire retardant foam being sprayed on the plane. However, the videos reveal workers warned others of Ye's presence.
Video from a fire truck records a firefighter telling the driver: "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, stop, stop, stop. There's a body right there, right in front of you."
Earlier footage shows a firefighter directing the truck around someone on the ground that investigators said they believe was Ye.
The girl was alive at that time, a coroner has ruled. She did eventually become partially covered by the foam.
A lieutenant told investigators she thought the girl was dead, but did not check for signs of life.
About 15 minutes later, the driver of the fire truck ran over the girl. The helmet cam showed another truck running over the teenager a short time later
Of 307 people aboard the plane, only three people, including Ye, died.
Ye's family is suing the city of San Francisco, charging the firefighters weren't properly trained.
