LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- A woman walked into a street in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday and was clipped by Mayor Eric Garcetti's official chauffeur-driven vehicle, his office said.
Police said the unidentified pedestrian, who is in her 60s, was hospitalized in good condition following the noontime accident, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles, reported.
Garcetti was speaking on a phone while riding in the police sport utility vehicle and didn't see what happened, the Los Angeles Times reported the statement from his office said.
"I'm very concerned about her and wish her a speedy recovery," Garcetti said. "I look forward to speaking with her soon."
KTLA-TV said city police Lt. Andy Neiman said the woman walked out between two vehicles and was not in a crosswalk when she collided with the SUV.
"She actually struck the vehicle. ... She walked into the side of the vehicle," Neiman said.
Police said the mayor's driver was not suspected of being at fault.
