Man struck by car in showroom files suit

NEW YORK, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- A New York City man is suing a car dealership after an employee moving cars in the showroom stuck him and pinned him against a wall, his lawyer said.

Phillip Bermudez, 36, was inside the Plaza Hyundai dealership in Brooklyn Dec. 15, seated at a salesman's desk as an employee moved cars in the facility. The worker, driving a Hyundai Santa Fe sedan zoomed some 20 feet, striking Bermudez and injuring him, the New York Daily News reported.

In a suit filed Monday in federal court, Bermudez said the injuries were severe enough he has not been able to return to work since the incident.

"People go to automobile showrooms for the purpose of purchasing cars, not to get violently struck by one," Bermudez lawyer Sanford Rubenstein said.

The dealership did not return calls for comment.
