Flight diverted to Kansas City cleared after suspicious device found

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- An American Airlines transcontinental flight was diverted to Kansas City International Airport because of a suspicious object in one of the plane's bathrooms.

Airport spokesman Joe McBride said the San Francisco-to-New York flight, with 227 passengers and crew, was diverted Sunday when the device, reportedly a computer flash drive, was found, the Kansas City Star reported.

The passengers and crew were allowed to reboard the Boeing 767 five hours later after a search.
