First lady remains in Hawaii as Obama, daughters return home

WASHINGTON, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- President Barack Obama and his two daughters returned home Sunday after a trip to Hawaii.

They landed on the south lawn in Marine One at 10:20 a.m., following an eight-hour flight in Air Force One from Honolulu to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

Michelle Obama remained in Hawaii as part of her birthday gift from the president.

She will spend time with her friends before her 50th birthday on Jan. 17.

Obama has no public events on Sunday.
