GOP bill would require weekly data on healthcare law enrollment

WASHINGTON, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- The U.S. House is to consider a bill next week that would require the Obama administration to provide weekly details about enrollment in the healthcare law.

Republican sponsors say the Exchange Information Disclosure Act is needed because the White House has provided sparse information about enrollment under the law, The Hill reported Saturday.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Lee Terry, R-Neb., lays out specific information the lawmakers want to see: state-by-state data on the number of unique website visitors, new accounts, new enrollments and the level of coverage.

The information would be broken down by ZIP code to provide hints about the types of people signing up.

The bill would require weekly updates to Congress through March 2015 on efforts to fix problems with the healthcare.gov website. The administration would have to publish a list of healthcare navigators, including their contact information, the organizations they work with and subcontractors.

The administration most recently said 2.1 million people had signed up under the Affordable Care Act.
