WASHINGTON, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- The father of a Chechen man slain by FBI agents investigating the Boston Marathon bombings has asked President Obama to look into his son's death.
In a letter emailed to the White House this month, Abdulbaki Todashev asked the president "to help the law and justice prevail," the Boston Globe reported Monday.
"I am not asking you to share my pain, but I am asking you, as the head of the great country, the guarantor of democracy in the modern world, to help the law and justice prevail," the father of Ibrahim Todashev said.
The younger Todashev was killed May 22 in Orlando, Fla. An FBI agent said he was forced to fatally shoot Todashev when the man attacked him during an interrogation.
Todashev, 27, was a friend of Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, suspects in the April 15 Boston Marathon bombings. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in a shootout with police. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is being held on multiple charges for which he could receive the death penalty if convicted.
Abdulbaki Todashev said in the letter the FBI has given out few details about the shooting and has barred the medical examiner from releasing his son's autopsy report. He said his son could not have attacked the agent because he was on crutches following knee surgery in March.
The father said his son had been shot 13 times and his body was covered in bruises.
Caitlin Hayden, a spokeswoman for the National Security Council, said Monday the White House had received the letter and would review it "to determine the appropriate follow-up."
