Teen mob overruns mall in New York City's Brooklyn borough

NEW YORK, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Retail workers said store traffic suffered when hundreds of teens ran wild through a shopping mall in New York City's Brooklyn borough the day after Christmas.

The teens converged on the Kings Plaza Shopping Center in the evening Thursday, the New York Post reported. They were apparently drawn to the mall by a rumor that the rapper Fabolous was going to perform there, as he did in 2010.

While no arrests were made, footage from security cameras shows security guards physically ejecting at least one teenager from the mall.

King Plaza reopened Friday with a temporary ban on unescorted teenagers in place, CNN reported.

Rickie Liu, who works in a shop in the mall, said business in the evening dwindled to nothing on what should have been a busy evening as security guards advised stores to lock their doors. She said the teens ran through the mall knocking on store fronts and yelling.

Police were summoned and cleared the mall by around 9 p.m.
