Eric Goodman, son of Las Vegas mayor, reported recovering from attack

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Eric Goodman, a son of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, was still recovering Saturday from injuries sustained in a December assault, KLAS-TV, Las Vegas, said.

Citing sources it did not identify, the TV station reported Saturday Eric Goodman -- who is also an attorney and Las Vegas justice of the peace -- was left nearly unconsciously with head injuries in a Dec. 15 assault in a restroom at a Las Vegas-area park.

The sources said he had gone for a jog in South Tower Park.

Police said the injuries limited their ability to get information from the victim and are asking the public for any information that might help the investigation.

The Goodman family issued a statement saying Eric Goodman is "doing very well" in rehab, and asking that its privacy be "respected through his recovery."

"One of our sons suffered a traumatic injury," the statement said. "He received the best of care at University Medical Center."

KLAS-TV had reported Friday it was Eric Goodman's brother who was injured, but the station said Saturday that report, based on information from police sources, was incorrect.
