Weiner hints at a comeback in message to supporters

NEW YORK, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- The political career of former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., may not be over, he suggested in a message of thanks to supporters.

Weiner acknowledged in a post on his Facebook page he felt "deeply sorry that my previous mistakes undermined an amazing campaign," but added: "What's next? I'll keep you posted on my plans. But I hope we keep the band together."

Weiner resigned in disgrace from Congress after he was found to have used his Twitter account to send inappropriate images of himself. While running in the Democratic primary for New York mayor in 2013 it was revealed he had not stopped online interactions with women other than his wife Huma Abedin, a top adviser to Hillary Clinton, the Washington newspaper The Hill reported Friday.

He finished fifth in the primary with 5 percent of the vote.
