SANFORD, Fla., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- A Florida prosecutor said Wednesday George Zimmerman will not face charges after being arrested in a domestic dispute last month.

Seminole-Brevard State Attorney Phil Archer cited lack of cooperation from Zimmerman's girlfriend, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Zimmerman's girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, recanted the domestic violence allegations in an affidavit earlier, and said she did not want to see him prosecuted.

Archer said in a statement that at the time of the arrest, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office had probable cause to take Zimmerman into custody.

"However, upon reviewing the recent affidavit ... and taking into account the conflicting statements about what occurred, the failure to cooperate with the ongoing investigation, and a lack of any other corroborating evidence or witnesses," the state attorney said, "there is no reasonable likelihood of successful prosecution."

Zimmerman's was charged in the 2012 killing of Trayvon Martin, 17, in Sanford, Fla. Zimmerman, who said he shot the unarmed teen in self-defense, was acquitted earlier this year.
