SAN DIEGO, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Cecelia Abadie, the California driver believed to be the first person ticketed for wearing Google Glass behind the wheel, plans to fight the charge.
Abadie, 44, of Temecula entered a not guilty plea Tuesday in San Diego, the Los Angeles Times reported. Abadie, who was pulled over by a police officer Oct. 29, is charged with violating a California motor vehicle regulation that prohibits driving "if a television receiver, a video monitor, or a television or video screen" can be seen.
Her lawyer, William Concidine, said the statute does not ban Google Glass because the device did not exist when it was adopted. He said Abadie's device was not on at the time she was pulled over.
Abadie was selected as an "explorer" to test Google Glass, a computer fitted into eyewear that is not yet on the market. She was also ticketed for speeding.
