WASHINGTON, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Americans, put off by the rollout snafu in the Affordable Care Act, also are expressing less confidence in President Obama, a CBS News poll indicated.
Weeks after the botched launch of the federal government's online healthcare exchanges, 32 percent of Americans said they approve of how Obama is handling the healthcare issue, down 8 percentage points from September, and the lowest since CBS News began asking the question in 2009, results released Wednesday indicated.
Most Americans said they don't have much confidence in the administration's ability to implement the Affordable Care Act, results indicated.
The negative polling surrounding the healthcare law spilled over perceptions on Obama's personal qualities, CBS News said.
Just half of Americans said they thought he has strong qualities of leadership, down 8 percentage points from September and the lowest of his presidency. Forty-nine percent said they thought Obama was honest and trustworthy.
A majority -- 53 percent -- expressed little or no confidence in Obama's ability to manage the federal government effectively.
The president's overall job approval rating fell among many demographic groups -- including independents, men and women -- and all age groups, CBS News said.
Results indicated only 11 percent of Americans approved of Congress, while 85 percent disapprove.
The nationwide telephone poll of 1,010 adults was conducted Friday through Monday. The margin of error was 3 percentage points.
