Billy Graham back home after two-day hospital stay

ASHEVILLE, N.C., Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Evangelist Billy Graham was back home Thursday in Montreat, N.C., after a two-day hospitalization for respiratory problems, his doctor said.

Dr. William Hathaway of Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., described Graham as "alert and in good spirits" during his short stay, The Charlotte Observer reported. The hospital in a statement said Graham's health is generally good.

"We were pleased with the results of Mr. Graham's evaluation," the doctor said.

Graham celebrated his 95th birthday earlier this month. Celebrities, including Sarah Palin, Ricky Skaggs, Rupert Murdoch and Donald Trump, were among the 800 people who attended his birthday party Nov. 7.

Graham also marked his birthday with a 28-minute video titled "The Cross." The video, shown on the Fox Network, could be his last public message.

Franklin Graham and Anne Graham Lotz, both evangelists, have described their father's mind as still vital. Graham now uses a wheelchair when he appears in public -- something that has become rare -- and his children say his vision and hearing have deteriorated with age.
