Google Maps to replace image of murder scene in Richmond, Calif.

RICHMOND, Calif., Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Google said Monday it will replace a Richmond, Calif., image on Google Maps showing a dead teen's body after the father complained.

Jose Barrera told KTVU-TV, Oakland, he discovered the image last week on Google Maps' satellite view feature.

"When I see this image, it's still like that happened yesterday," Barrera said. "And that brings me back to a lot of memories."

Police found the body of Kevin Barrera, 14, near a railroad track in Richmond after the teen was shot and killed in 2009.

"Our hearts go out to the family of this young boy," Brian McClendon, vice president of Google Maps, said in a written statement. "Google has never accelerated the replacement of updated satellite imagery from our maps before, but given the circumstances we wanted to make an exception in this case."

McClendon said it would take about eight days to replace the image.
