Man falls through the ceiling at the Westin in Hollywood, Fla.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla., Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Investigators say they're looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who fell through the ceiling of a hotel in Hollywood, Fla.

Police were called to the scene 12:38 a.m. Sunday after the man fell through the ceiling of the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred at the resort," said hotel general manager Ed Walls in a statement. "The city of Hollywood police have our full cooperation and support during this time."

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Joel Medina, a spokesman for Hollywood Fire Rescue.

On Sunday afternoon, workers cleaned debris from the incident.

"There was glass and debris in the lobby," said Medina. "And there was damage to a sprinkler pipe that caused the sprinkler system to go on."
