STEVENSON, Ala., Nov. 16 (UPI) -- An Alabama man has carried out the court-ordered removal of his wife's grave from his front yard in Stevenson following a four-year court battle.
James Davis, 75, had been fighting court orders to remove the grave since he buried his wife, Patsy Davis, there in 2009, AL.com reported.
On Wednesday, a Jackson County Circuit Court upheld a court order from March 2012 that ordered Davis to remove his wife's coffin and its vault from his home in Stevenson.
"I'm handling this, I don't like this, but I'm going to be able to make it," Davis said. "The Bible says a person will not be given more than he can handle."
In court, Davis testified that if the court upheld the order, he would comply. He also said he would have his wife's remains cremated.
On Friday, a crew hired by Davis came and removed Mrs. Davis' remains.
