Report: Seattle-area teen rape suspect came from fractured home

KENT, Wash., Nov. 14 (UPI) -- A 14-year-old suburban Seattle boy was charged this week with raping a young girl he allegedly lured into a wooded area, court documents said.

The teenager, who was not identified, stood 6-foot-2 and weighed 230 pounds at the time of his arrest, The Seattle Times said.

The alleged victim was the 90-pound sister of one of his friends and suffered a concussion, abrasions and other injuries in the alleged attack.

The suspect was charged in juvenile court Wednesday although prosecutors were still considering making a request to try him as an adult.

The Times said family members in Kent described the youth as coming from a highly dysfunctional family led by a single mother with a long arrest record who battled addiction until her death in January.

"I don't know if he did it, or why," said one family member, "but there was molestation all around the family."

Relatives said the suspect's older brother had been sent to prison for committing a rape when he was 15.
