OPA-LOCKA, Fla., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- One person was killed and another five were injured Thursday when a chemical storage tank exploded at a boat yard in Opa-locka, Fla., police said.
The 20,000-gallon tank exploded at the American Vinyl Co. about 2 p.m., WPLG-TV, Miami, reported.
Thirty-six Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue units responded to the scene, the TV station said.
The chemicals in the tank contaminated the site, causing injuries to several workers. Two of them were transported to a hospital.
The dead man wasn't immediately identified.
