Plane that slid off O'Hare taxiway is removed to hangar

CHICAGO, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- An American Eagle plane that got stuck in mud at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport Wednesday has been removed from the taxiway, aviation officials said.

The nose gear of Flight 4332 -- an Embraer E175 with 38 passengers aboard -- slid on the taxiway and got stuck in mud as the plane attempted to execute a turn, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

After the plane arrived safely in rainy weather from New Orleans, the nose wheel slid off the taxiway and onto the grass after landing, American Airlines spokeswoman Mary Frances Fagan said.

"While taxiing to the terminal at O'Hare, the aircraft exited the taxiway and the nose gear of the plane ended up in the grass," Fagan told WMAQ-TV, Chicago.

The Chicago Fire Department aided in getting passengers off the plane, WBBM-TV, Chicago, reported, adding there were no injuries.

The plane was pulled from the shoulder of Runway 27 Left and towed to a hangar, a Chicago Department of Aviation spokesman said.
