MARIETTA, Ga., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Reality television star Anna Benson was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years probation after pleading guilty to attacking her husband in July, court officials said. Benson pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and gun possession charges in Cobb County [Georgia] Superior Court.

Benson, 37, who appears on the VH-1 reality series "Baseball Wives," admitted attacking her estranged husband, former major league pitcher Kris Benson, at his Smyrna, Ga., home July 7, in a plea bargain that dropped additional burglary and multiple assault charges, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said.
Prosecutors said Anna Benson entered her husband's residence holding a metal baton and a handgun, wearing a bulletproof vest and an ammunition belt with a double-edged knife tucked into her waistband, and demanded $30,000.
She smashed a home computer and arresting officers found her smoking a cigarette in the back yard. Kris Benson, who filed for divorce in 2012, ran to a neighbor's house.
Kris Benson pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondback in an 11-year major-league career that ended in 2010.
As part of her sentence, Anna Benson must successfully complete 90 days of treatment in an out-of-state psychiatric facility and will be prohibited from coming within 500 yards of her husband or threatening him or their three children, the Journal-Constitution said.
The first five years of her probation will be supervised.
