3 Michigan men killed, 1 injured in Minnesota plane crash

CALEDONIA, Minn., Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Three men killed and a fourth who was injured in a plane crash in southeastern Minnesota were from Michigan, authorities said Saturday.

Killed when their plane crashed about 4:30 p.m. Friday in a farm field southeast of the Caledonia Airport in Houston County were Joel A. Garrett, 79, of Troy, Dale E. Garrett, 49, of Berkley and John P. Bergeron, 50, of Birmingham, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

Joseph S. Stevens, 61, of Bloomfield was hospitalized at a hospital in La Crosse, Wis., with serious injuries, the newspaper said.

The Houston County Sheriff's Office said no one saw the aircraft go down.

Federal Aviation Administration officials were at the crash site Saturday and National Transportation Safety Board investigators were expected later, the sheriff's office said.
