PAHRUMP, Nev., Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Former "Hollywood Madam" Heidi Fleiss was arrested Wednesday near her Pahrump, Nev., home and charged with driving and drug possession violations, police said.

Nye County sheriff's deputies pulled Fleiss' car over after a record search revealed it had a suspended registration, Sheriff Tony DeMeo said.

Officials found four ounces of marijuana in the car and what deputies determined was a "large amount of cash," the Las Vegas Sun reported Wednesday, adding Fleiss did not have a valid drivers' license and failed sobriety tests.

Fleiss, 47, was booked into the Nye County Detention Center on charges including driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, a suspended vehicle registration and driving without insurance.

She achieved a measure of fame in the 1990s for running a brothel in Los Angeles.

In August deputies discovered nearly 400 marijuana plants growing at her home, the newspaper said.
