Men who toppled rock formation lose Scouting leadership positions

OREM, Utah, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Two men who toppled a rock formation at a Utah state park were removed from leadership positions in the Boy Scouts of America, a statement by the Scouts said.

A criminal investigation against David Hall and Glenn Taylor is proceeding, the Salt Lake Tribune reported Tuesday.

The two achieved notoriety last week after they posted a video on the Internet of themselves pushing over a rock formation at Goblin Valley State Park.

The men will no longer serve as leaders in the Utah National Parks Council, based in Orem, after council leadership referred to their behavior in the park as "reprehensible," a statement from the Boy Scouts of America said.

The statement said council leadership was shocked and disappointed by the actions of Hall and Taylor, calling the incident "absolutely counter to our beliefs and what we teach."
