Responding officers quickly located three students on the street behind the school and later recovered an Airsoft gun, police said. Airsoft guns look like real guns, but fire plastic pellets.

A witness later identified the 13-year-old, whose name was not released, as the one carrying the the gun.

Sgt. Steven Dearth said Sunday police decided to charge the boy after interviewing other witnesses.
