"Our leaders need to lead, and we need a better solution in Washington, D.C.," Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said in a video posted on the Starbucks website. "I don't pretend that both parties are equally to blame for this crisis. But, I do think they are equally responsible for leading us to a solution."

The petition asks Congress members to "reopen our government to serve the people" and "pay our debts on time to avoid another financial crisis," as well as "pass a bipartisan and comprehensive long-term budget deal by the end of the year."

"Sign the #ComeTogether Petition and let your voice be heard in Washington. https://cards.twitter.com/cards/nwd/1y2," the coffee company tweeted Thursday.
