Business jet crashes into hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 29 (UPI) -- A small business jet went off a runway and hit a hangar at the airport in Santa Monica, Calif., Sunday, authorities said. There was no word on injuries.

The twin-engine Cessna Citation crashed after landing at 6:20 p.m. PDT, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor told the Los Angeles Times. The plane had taken off from Hailey, Idaho, he said.

The Times said people at the airport said they heard loud explosions and airport staff said firetrucks had arrived on the tarmac.

The newspaper said it wasn't known how many people were on the plane.

The business jet is registered to Creative Real Estate Exchange LLC. The real-estate company's website said the firm is based in Alabama and Georgia. The Times said FAA records show the plane's owner lives in Malibu, Calif.
