ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Former President George W. Bush said he is in favor of President Barack Obama's frequent trips to a golf course, calling them a necessary "outlet."

In an interview with the Golf Channel, Bush, who famously gave up golf during his first term in the White House, telling the news organization Politico in 2008, "I don't want some mom whose son recently died [in fighting in Iraq] to see the commander in chief playing golf," called the game a good release for President Obama.

"I know the pressures of the job, and to be able to get out and play golf with some of your pals is important to the president. It does give you an outlet," Bush said.
