CLEVELAND, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- The name of a daughter born to Amanda Berry, kidnapped and held hostage in Cleveland by Ariel Castro, will be redacted from public record, a judge ruled.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Michael Russo ordered the child's name redacted from all filings pertinent to the kidnapping case Friday, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported.

The child's name was to be deleted "to respect and protect the minor child victim's right to individual privacy," a prosecutor's filing read.

Castro, 53, pleaded guilty earlier this summer, and the child's name was listed in a public filing. County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty's office said it was inadvertent, and sought to have the name redacted.

Authorities said Berry gave birth to the child in a small swimming pool, and DNA evidence confirmed Castro was the father.

Castro committed suicide in prison Sept. 3, after he was sentenced to life imprisonment, plus 1,000 years, for the 10-year torture and captivity of Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus. The child was 6 when the women were found in May.
