WASHINGTON, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- A majority of Americans opposes defunding Obamacare when shutting down the government is at stake, a poll found.
The CNBC All-America Economic Survey found that 44 percent of Americans do not want to defund President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act, while 38 percent said they would like to see Obamacare defunded, CNBC reported Monday.
When the issue of closing down the federal government and defaulting on debt is included in the discussion, those who oppose defunding Obamacare increased to 59 percent.
On Friday, the Republican-held House of Representatives voted 230-189 in favor of a short-term government budget that would cut all funding to Obama's healthcare law.
CNBC interviewed 800 people nationwide last week. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.
