Teens arrested for allegedly beating woman, planning to eat her liver

SPOKANE, Wash., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Police in Spokane, Wash., said they arrested two teenage boys accused of attacking one of the boys' mothers with a sword and planning to eat her liver.

The woman told Spokane County sheriff's deputies she had been attacked by her 13-year-old son and his 14-year-old friend while she slept.

She woke to find a sword, damaged and bent at a 45-degree angle, and two kitchen knives near her beaten and bloody body, The Spokesman-Review of Spokane reported Thursday. The boys ran off when she awoke.

The father of the 14-year-old boy said he thought his son was spending the night with the other teen, but discovered his 2005 Dodge Durango was missing.

The vehicle was found later at the scene of a hit-and-run, in which the boys allegedly drove into a mobile home, the newspaper said.

The teens then allegedly broke into a nearby house to hide and took turns throwing a hammer at the walls, windows and doors, a sheriff's office news release said.

A Washington State Patrol trooper and a sheriff's office dog tracked and caught the boys as they ran from the house.

The 13-year-old told police he persuaded his friend to kill his mother after the elder teen had taken some "blue pills." The 14-year-old admitted trying to kill the woman and told police they planned to eat her liver before fleeing town.

The boys were being held in juvenile detention. The younger boy faces charges of second-degree assault, stealing a motor vehicle, residential burglary and second-degree malicious mischief. The older boy faces the same charges plus hit-and-run, the newspaper said.
