HENDERSONVILLE, N.C., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A former principal and a teacher from North Carolina were sentenced to jail time for child pornography charges.
Chadwick Hamby, a former charter school principal from Hendersonville, pleaded guilty to watching child-porn videos produced by one of his teachers last year and was sentenced Wednesday to six years in prison, The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer reported.
Deborah Lee Tipton, 45, who worked as a special education teacher at Hamby's school, was also sentenced Wednesday to 18 years in prison on charges of possession and transporting child pornography. Tipton earlier pleaded guilty to the charges.
Hamby and Tipton will be required to register as sex offenders for 15 and 25 years, respectively.
Prosecutors said that in 2010, Tipton produced two sexually explicit videos of children under the age of 12 and sent them to Hamby via the Internet.
Hamby then watched the videos at least once before deleting them, prosecutors said.
