Air Force master sergeant arrested for child porn

LUSBY, Md., Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Authorities arrested a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for allegedly producing and sharing child pornography, and molesting young girls, officials said.

William S. Gazafi, 44, of Lusby, Md., was indicted on six counts of sexually exploiting a minor to produce child pornography earlier this month, The Washington Post reported Thursday.

The charges were the result of a years-long sting in which an undercover agent had contact with Gazafi, posing as a man interested in sharing child pornography, the newspaper said.

The undercover agent first made contact with Gazafi in August 2011, though their interaction escalated between August 2012 and August 2013, the federal arrest affidavit said. Gazafi allegedly gave the agent pornographic photographs he said he produced earlier in September, prompting the arrest.

Gazafi allegedly told the agent he molested the young girls and had at least once given one girl Ambien, a sedative used to treat insomnia. His alleged victims were a 7-year-old girl and a 5- or 6-month-old girl, the indictment said.

Gazafi worked in communications for the Air Force and was assigned to Joint Base Andrews as a member of the 89th Airlift Wing, Air Force spokeswoman Candice Ismirle said.
