He also has been charged with attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of the 18-year-old babysitter.

The infant, from the suburb of Harvey, died Aug. 29 when the babysitter was shot while carrying Londyn in the Central City district of New Orleans. Police said the bullet passed through the babysitter and struck the baby, killing her.

Armstrong was arrested Wednesday after officers stopped him for speeding and found he had outstanding warrants and a suspended license.
